Common Questions About CR Inside. Answered in Plain English.

Celebrate Recovery, also referred to as CR, is a Christ-based approach to recovery that was a response to twelve-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous. It was founded in 1990 by Pastors John Baker and Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, and is aimed at all "hurts, habits, and hang-ups". It includes but is not limited to drug and alcohol addictions, sex addiction, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and people who have been sexually abused. The founders felt that Alcoholics Anonymous was too vague in referring to God as a "higher power," and wanted a more specifically Christ-based program. Celebrate Recovery utilizes eight Recovery Principles that are based on the Sermon on the Mount found in the Beatitudes.

Celebrate Recovery is now in over 29,000 churches worldwide!
Celebrate Recovery Inside, also referred to as CR Inside, is an extension of the Celebrate Recovery Ministry that takes the CR curriculum to those brothers and sisters who are currently incarcerated in prisons and jails across the United States and around the world. By taking this program to those that are incarcerated, we hope to equip them with the tools provided through CR to overcome their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so they are better prepared to face the world on the outside once they are released.
There are currently over 370 CR Inside Ministries active in prisons and jails in 42 states in the U.S.A., and 11 active in 2 other countries.
